According to the most recent Labor Force Survey report from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), the nation’s employment rate was 96.9 percent in June 2024, up from 95.9 percent in May of the same year. There are currently 50 million Filipinos working, up from 49 million at the beginning of the employment period.

The Labor Force Participation Rate (LFPR) increased from 64.80 percent to 66 percent. In June 2024, the LFPR was reported to be 51.90 million Filipinos aged 15 and over, who were either employed or jobless.

With regards to job opportunities present and available in the country, there are vast opportunities and a wide array of options especially in the digital realm. With the rise of the digital jobs and careers, jobseekers can now expand their choices and chances of getting hired through jobs made available and accessible online. The World Economic Forum (WEF) projects that by 2030, there will be 92 million digital jobs available, 54 million of which will be higher-paying roles.

In comparison, there are currently 73 million digital occupations, of which 39 million pay more than the current average. Higher-wage employment are those with yearly salaries of more than $75,000, according to WEF. Digital occupations account for a portion of the in-demand jobs in the country today, given the rise of online and remote employment in the “new normal”.

Software developers, virtual assistants, information security professionals, social media marketers, project managers, recruitment specialists, and customer and tech support are a few of the in-demand digital occupations and jobs.

Certain conventional jobs which are still needed in person, such those in healthcare, logistics, and warehousing, are still in demand. Applying for jobs in the online realm in the present are now also made-easy as there are already a lot of different websites and job portals available where jobseekers can now look for jobs and submit their credentials and get hired.

In the SOCCSKSARGEN Region, the Local Government Unit of City of Tacurong launched their first-ever job portal PESO Jobs PH, which made job-searching easier, not only for the Tacurongnons but also aiming for aiding the whole Filipino citizens. Jobseekers can now easily look for jobs as it is free and easy to access. Job searching is now only a click away thanks to this initiative of the LGU Tacurong’s Philippine Employment Service Office.
