The Department of Labor and Employment – Sultan Kudarat Field Office (DOLE-SKFO) held its Public Employment Service Office (PESO) 1st Quarterly Meeting on April 22, 2025, in Columbio, Sultan Kudarat. The meeting was led by Engr. Louie M. Esparagoza, Chief Labor and Employment Officer and SKFO Head.
PESO managers and staff from Sultan Kudarat attended, along with representatives from the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA). Updates on PESO programs and first-quarter achievements were discussed. Additionally, new guidelines for the Search for Best PESO were presented and led by Ms. Vanessa Gay D. Ramo, Labor and Employment Officer III. The DMW and OWWA representatives also presented their Anti-Illegal Recruitment and Trafficking in Persons (AIRTIP) program.
PESO Tacurong received a certificate of recognition for its implementation of DOLE Programs and Services, achieving the Highest Placement Rate and the Highest Number of Applicants Registered for Job Search Assistance. Additionally, it attained the Second Highest number of individuals and institutions Reached for Labor Market Information and the Third Highest Referral Rate for Job Search Assistance during the first quarter of 2025. PESO Manager Nur Juanday and his staff engaged in discussions with Mr. Allan S. Freno, PESO Manager. During the meeting, Mr. Freno emphasized the importance of assigning specific tasks to teams for each program to ensure the efficient delivery of PESO services and highlighted new office innovations for each program that they could also implement.

The event was attended by 21 seafarersโ€™ wives who actively participated, particularly in establishing an association for seafarersโ€™ wives in the city. Mr. John Rod A. Valenzuela, the Family Welfare Officer for Sultan Kudarat, led the event and welcomed the participants. Meanwhile, Mr. Allan S. Freno, the City PESO Manager and designated Public OFW Desk Officer (PODO) of Tacurong, delivered a short message to the attendees.
Mr. Valenzuela presented the rationale and objectives of the event, followed by an overview of the OFW Family Circle (OFC). An election of officers for the newly formed association was then conducted, where participants selected seven core group leaders from among themselves. The leaders were determined and ranked based on the number of times their names appeared on the ballots. The following are the officers for the newly established association for the seafarersโ€™ wives in the city:

Mr. Melchor B. Franco, the Family Welfare Officer for General Santos City and the coastal areas of Sultan Kudarat presented and discussed OWWAโ€™s programs and services along with the Five Stages of Organizational Development.
A Financial Literacy session was also conducted by Mr. Valenzuela, followed by a workshop to engage participants in practical learning.
Before concluding the event, Mrs. Yvette S. Domider, the newly elected president of the association, delivered a short message to express her gratitude and commitment to the groupโ€™s initiatives.

Ms. Rhelyn May V. Obeja, the Focal Person on the Career Development Support Program of PESO Tacurong, led the Career Awareness Symposium, discussing current career trends and labor market information at both the national and local levels. A fun and interactive question-and-answer session was also included, engaging students to participate and assess their understanding of the discussion.
The Career Development Support Program (CDSP) aims to help students shape their career paths, prepare for the workforce, and make informed decisions about their future careers after completing their education.
