DOLE XII Regional Director Joel Gonzales recognized Tacurong City’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO) for having the “Most Innovative Public Employment Service Program”.
The recognition was conferred in time with the PESO Year-End Performance Assessment held on January 16-17, 2025 at Sarangani Highlands in General Santos City.
PESO Manager Allan Freno cited the establishment of the online job portal management system, PESO Jobs PH, as its most innovative project on recruitment.
The first LGU-powered job portal in Region XII, PESO Jobs PH practically streamlines the recruitment process by leveraging digital technology and artificial intelligence.
Seeing PESO Tacurong’s effort to digitalize its employment initiatives, the PESO Managers Association of the Philippines, Inc. passed a resolution last year enjoining various PESOs in the country to benchmark Tacurong’s job portal.
Recently, some LGUs in Mindanao have already visited Tacurong to see how the job portal operates.
Apart from its innovativeness, PESO Tacurong was also recognized during the YEPA as one of the region’s best in the implementation of the National Skills Registration Program.
PESO managers and staff from the Province of Agusan del Sur recently conducted a benchmarking activity in Sultan Kudarat Province on December 11, 2024. As part of their visit, they also met with the City Government of Tacurong, focusing particularly on the operations of PESO Tacurong. The staff of PESO Tacurong, led by City PESO Manager Mr. Allan S. Freno, delivered an informative presentation on the operation of the city’s LGU-powered job portal, PESO Jobs PH. The participants were walked through the overview of the job portal down to its technical aspects and its special features, highlighting its benefits to employers, job seekers, and the PESO itself. Ms. Divina Lagumbay, PESO Manager of the Provincial Government of Agusan del Sur and Former Regional President of the PESO CARAGA Regional Federation, led the group of participants.
She raised inquiries about the portal’s functionality, its impact, and the significant changes it has brought to the employment landscape not only in the City of Tacurong and Sultan Kudarat Province but also in neighboring provinces, municipalities, and cities. Also present at the event was Ms. Mary Jane C. Hoksuan, Chief Labor and Employment Officer of the Department of Labor and Employment Sultan Kudarat Field Office, who delivered a brief message to the benchmarking participants. Mr. Jonix A. Paniagua, the PESO Manager of the Sultan Kudarat Provincial Government and the Former National President, of the PESO Managers Association of the Philippines, was also present and accompanied the participants. PESO Tacurong hopes that the establishment of PESO Jobs PH serves as an inspiration to other PESOs in the Mindanao Region and across the country. The initiative aims to contribute to improving the nation’s employment landscape and addressing its challenges, especially in these changing times when technology and innovation are increasingly integrated into everyday transactions.
