A turnover of livelihood kits under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) was successfully conducted on May 12, 2026 at the Barangay Virginia Griรฑo Gymnasium, providing new livelihood opportunities to members of the Barangay Virginia Griรฑo Workers Association. The initial 10 beneficiaries from the Virginia Griรฑo Workers Association received kabuhayan kits intended to help establish and strengthen their respective income-generating projects. The kits included tools and materials for carpentry, casket making, welding, paint services, and furniture making. The Virginia Griรฑo Workers Association was organized with the assistance and guidance of the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) to help community members become part of a recognized group that can access livelihood opportunities and government assistance programs.
Through PESOโs facilitation of project proposals, the association was able to avail of the kabuhayan kits under DILP. Present during the activity were Ms. Michelle O. Ignacio, Chief Administrative Officer and DOLE SKFO Head; PESO Manager Allan S. Freno;Barangay Captain Jose D. Tambagahan Sr. together with the Barangay Kagawads; and Mr. Noel Padernal Jr., representative of the City Mayor Lina O. Montilla,PhD who delivered a message of support, expressing hope that the livelihood assistance provided will be sustained and eventually grow into stable and long-term sources of income for the beneficiaries, and reaffirming the City Governmentโs continued support for livelihood development initiatives.
It was further emphasized that the long-term success and sustainability of their projects may open opportunities for the association to access larger livelihood assistance packages and additional development interventions in the future, subject to program evaluation and assessment. The turnover serves as another step in the government’s continuing efforts to promote sustainable livelihood opportunities development at the community level.
