The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Sultan Kudarat Field Office recognized the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of the Local Government Unit of Tacurong City for introducing PESO Jobs PH, the first LGU-powered online job search site in Region XII. DOLE SK Field Office Head Mary Jane Hoksuan conferred a Certificate of Recognition to PESO Tacurong during the Year-End Performance Assessment (YEPA) of PESO Managers Association of Sultan Kudarat held on December 21, 2023, at the Casa de Pierra Resort in the Municipality of Bagumbayan, Sultan Kudarat. Allan Freno, PESO Manager of LGU Tacurong City received the certificate together with PESO Staff Ervin Jay Balanueco.

Hoksuan said that PESO Tacurong’s launching of its job portal is an innovation that changes the job search game and hiring process altogether. “Through the job portal, looking and getting a job has become easier and more accessible”, she said. Launched in July of this year, PESO Jobs PH aims to bridge the gap between employers and job seekers by providing them with an online platform where they can meet. By registering to the portal, job applicants can upload their resumes, browse through posted job vacancies, and apply online. The job portal also simplifies the hiring process for employers, allowing them to set filters based on requirements and credentials and automate the sifting of applicants so the pool is quickly narrowed down to the most qualified candidates.

Freno said that the launching of the job portal was one of the innovations of PESO in response to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. “The pandemic made us realize that it’s time to take our effort up a notch and digitalize our employment facilitation efforts, especially on job referral and placement”, Freno said. He added that the establishment of the portal also complies with the provision of RA 11927 or the Philippine Digital Workforce Competitiveness Act that specifically mandates PESOs to create a digital platform where employers can post their vacancies and where jobseekers can upload their resumes and subsequently apply online.
